The (Lost) Art of Rochard – Part 2
Last week we showcased some original artworks from Rochard‘s secret scrapbook. The focus was mostly on (discarded) designs for space bandits and John Rochard himself. In this second – and unfortunately last – part you can take a look at some of the environments that didn’t make it into the final game…or at least not in this form (wink, wink)!
And before you ask: yes, we have more of these, but showing them would probably cause massive black holes and break the space-time continuum. So rest assured, we are not gonna mess up the universe just before you have a chance to put your hands on the game…
The (Lost) Art of Rochard – Part 1
Hi there! We are getting close to the release date and as you can guess everyone at Recoil is getting really excited!
Today we decided to share some backstage material featuring old concept arts of characters that didn’t make it into the final game. Turns out those pirates were just too afraid to make an appearance…
Oh, you will also see a scrapped model of Rochard himself, but don’t worry: our mustachioed hero is gonna meet you as planned the 27th (US) and 28th (EU) of September.
Take a seat and enjoy
Remember to keep your eyes on our Facebook and Twitter for more updates. Release is close and we have a lot of things to share!
Rochard workspaces: a tour of Recoil Games
The best thing about working in a video game studio is that your desktop can look like a Warhammer 40.000 battlefield and not only the other guys do not complain about it, but they often encourage you in turning a perfectly innocent table into a fantasy armageddon.
At Recoil, each new employee starts with a little personal budget to embellish his or her new workspace. Let’s see in this series of pictures what the people working on Rochard came up with. Be ready to see dragons amidst empty cans of energy drinks, or aliens towering over half eaten biscuits with a study on mustaches in the background…
Rochard Backstage Part 1: The Music (Sneak Peek)
We hinted a few times at backstage material coming your way…now it’s time for a sneak peek!
The first part of our Backstage focuses on music: Creative Director Burt Kane and Producer Markus “Captain” Kaarlonen from Poets of the Fall sat together to speak about the 80′s inspired soundtrack of Rochard.
While there is still a bit more waiting to do for the whole video, we want to give you a little preview of what you will get approaching the release of the game. Enjoy!
Visitors
Last week we were lucky enough to have here at Recoil’s studio some visitors from the Finnish media scene (you know what they say, home is always home).
They enjoyed the company of Mr Rochard for a couple of good hours and besides the usual reactions (“OMG, THIS GAME IS ROCHARD-ELIC!”), they also shared with us some very insightful opinions on the game…
To be completely honest, we couldn’t be more than happy of what we heard. So yep, it’s a good sign!
Here some pictures from the event:
Orcidea bestowing his magnificent beard!
Epic beard-mustaches competition between Rochard and Orcidea! Weird the Universe didn’t implode.
Jarkko Grönberg (background) and Raine Laaksonen from MoonTV giving us their seal of approval.
Thanks to all of those who dropped by the studio last week, and, of course thank you readers from home…The moment of truth is nigh, so stay tuned!
