Today Recoil Games is excited to announce brand new upcoming DLC for its critically acclaimed puzzle-platformer Rochard. Titled ‘Hard Times’, the new content will be available soon and includes four new, incredibly challenging puzzle levels: ‘Container Chaos’, ‘Shaft Shuffle’, ‘Brainyard’ and ‘Assembly Line’. These levels were created as a response to fans that found the original stages a bit too ‘easy’. The ‘Hard Times’ content is designed to use all of the existing game mechanics, with an emphasis on puzzle-solving as opposed to combat, and offers a difficult test for even the most experienced players.
Rochard features a modest hero, nefarious villains, big explosions, even bigger stunts and hilarious one-liners. The game allows players to change gravity at will to solve environmental puzzles and advance through each level. By using the main tool of the game, the upgradable G-Lifter, players can lift and maneuver boxes and heavy objects around the environment and can eventually swing, jump and propel themselves huge distances throughout each level.
The ‘Hard times’ DLC is available soon for Rochard on Windows PC, Mac, and Linux on Steam. The original Rochard is also available for download on PlayStation 3 via the PlayStation Network.
Recoil is releasing their first game on iOS this week, the brand new Rock Runners. Leveraging their experience in the genre, Recoil set out to make the perfect touch screen platformer. Rock Runners is a hybrid ‘runner-platformer’ game, featuring over 140 sophisticated levels and instantly accessible one-touch controls. Gamers barrel through trap-filled caverns as they attempt to collect three stars and make the perfect run. The game is broken up into chapters, each consisting of up to 50 different levels that offer various paths for players to progress through. The game features dazzling 3D visuals, a groovy soundtrack and exciting gameplay, and Recoil plans on supporting it with chapter updates after launch.

We LOVE ROCHARD! WE SUPPORT HIM THROUGH “HARD TIMES”!
This game is awesome..
Rochard is very cool. His awesome mustache and his bulged stomach makes him very charismatic!
Can’t wait to put my hands on this! I have rochard on steam and hard times is grayed out, it seens that the DLC is already installed, but not activated yet, is that right?
Awesome game!
Is this going to be Steam exclusive or will it also be made available DRM free through the Humble Store?
It is already available for the Humble Store customers (w/o extra charge). Humble Indie Bundle customers need to buy Hard Times on Steam.
But what about HIB owners that want to purchase the DLC outside of Steam?
Alas, very few distribution systems allow additional content (DLC etc). We are looking on other platforms whether they could be supported.
I would love to see Rochard join the growing list of Unity3D titles on Desura myself.
Yep, Desura is cross-platform for Win/Lin/Mac and can distribute DLC (Dungeons of Dredmor has like four DLC packs; I’ve bought all of them for Linux that way).
Go ahead and check them out! Desura is pretty awesome, and the guys running it are super nice and helpful (if not a bit over-worked
).
Correction… Dredmor has three DLC expansions, one is free, all are available on Desura, and I bought the two paid packs (they’re like $3, totally worth it).
We are going to add Desura. Things have been lagging due to our lack of resources.
Some past HIB titles have offered Desura keys through HIB, and I was wondering if HIB6 customers could get a key for Rochard when it is released there (minus DLC of course). Just the fact it is coming to Desura at all though is awesome enough.
Desura DLC support needs some integration work, and we’re looking at this.
Is there any info when this DLC will be released on steam? The achievements are added, but sadly can’t find the dlc in the store.
@Jan
How much does the dlc cost in the humble store?
Hard Times should be available on Steam on March 1st at 6pm GMT.
Thx for the answer, already bought it yesterday.
Also a very nice price, but I am still curious why after this much time the first DLC is released, most of the time it is early or never. (Don’t misunderstand this as a complaint, I love the game)
Can we buy the DLC through the Humble Store?
Humble Store does not support DLCs, but if you bought the original game from HS the latest version has the expansion built-in.
Bought the DLC on steam, the gameplay is awesome! Challeging levels, I don’t know if I did them the way it meant to, but I did.
I guess there is a bug on assembly level, when the “B” Box Turns into “C” and flot up on air, sometimes it gets stuck on the ceiling at top right of the screen. Doesn’t matter if you release the gravity or no, the box keeps stucked and the next incoming will surely shock with it and both explodes.
After some tries I finished all levels and this one is the only level I noticed some unexpected behavior. Is just about luck to don’t have the “C” box stucked.
Anyway, great DLC, fare price I guess. I’m not an iOS device owner, hope to see Rock Runners on other platforms someday.
Despite of obvious Android, I do suggest PS Vita Platform, this game may fit perfectly on the handheld.
Thanks Recoil!
Does Rocoil team sells Rochard Posters? Or at least printable digital versions? I just love the game artwork and an A3 format would be nice to have on the wall.
Maybe printable registered artworks come in a collector edition, DLC, whatever…
Usually studios makes Digital Artbooks available, etc, its nice, but I’ve never seen digital version in printable sizes to print in local graphic services and porter it.
The retail package has an A3-sized poster, and we have some promotional graphics on the press page. Also, check this out: http://stman.deviantart.com/art/Rochard-Poster-266231451
Beautiful poster! I’ll try to increase size to A3 format with minimal quality loss, them print to see how it will look.
Unfortunately I never seen retail version on local stores (Brazil), by searching on the internet, I noticed that the retail was released a half year ago.
Thank you!
I loved playing Rochard very much; since I bought Rochard as a part of the Humble Bundle, I’ve been looking forward to an add-on or a sequel.
Are there any news on when this extension will be available outside of Steam or any such systems, presumeably just as a downloadable installer file that I can install on top of my local Rochard installation?
We’re working on this with the Humble Bundle guys.
